Bachelor's Programs
Education, Elementary
You’ll choose to complete one of the three options: Integrated Science major; Integrated Science major & Reading minor; and Integrated Science major, Reading minor & Child Development. In addition to passing the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification, you’ll earn provisional State of Michigan teacher certification.
Master's Programs
Administration
You’ll gain the knowledge and skills required for managers, administrators, and supervisors to function more effectively in all types of organizations, plus the specialized managerial expertise needed for a particular professional field.
Education, Educational Leadership (MA-EL)
You’ll be prepared for leadership in all educational settings – public, private, charter and virtual schools, educational service providers, authorizers, government programs, community education, preschools, day cares, corporate and military. Through performance-based learning, you’ll strengthen your knowledge base in management, community relations, law, curriculum supervision, instructional assessment, and action research.
Public Administration
The Master of Public Administration degree at Central Michigan University prepares you to assume or advance a career in the public and nonprofit sectors. The program focuses on developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and an appreciation for ethical decision-making.
Reading & Literacy (BR) (K-12) (cohort)
Designed to teach you to organize and implement school programs, diagnose and treat difficulties in literacy, implement appropriate reading and instruction, develop interdisciplinary and integrated units involving literacy, conduct research on current issues in literacy, and develop technological and viewing skills related to literacy programs.
Specialist in Education (EdS)
If you want to work in college or university administration, school superintendence, agency administration, site management, budgeting or other leadership positions, this program is designed for you.
Doctoral Programs
Doctor of Education (EdD)
Intended for individuals in educational leadership careers, you’ll attain in-depth knowledge and skills to help transform the educational institution through practice. Emphasizes the application of scholarship (theory) to the improvement of educational practice.

Administration (G)
General Administration – A very flexible option designed to enhance your critical thinking and develop your analytical and decision-making skills for a wide variety of upper-level administrative positions.
Health Services Administration – You’ll be preparee to take a leadership role in health care. You will learn how to proactively meet the challenges of budget expectations, staff retention, new regulations, and the many issues that develop as care, costs and funding collide.
Human Resources Administration – Advance your own career while helping your fellow employees reach their highest potential. You’ll learn to master complex employment issues related to labor relations, staffing, training, and organizational development.
Leadership – You’ll learn how to think, act and react like a true leader. Take charge as you increase your ability to think creatively, analyze critically, and manage knowledge effectively.
Public Administration – The political, social, and economic environment of public administration requires a specialized education. Designed to help you master the complexities of administration in the government and non-profit sectors.
Endorsements & Planned Programs
Endorsement, Central Office Certification
This 33-credit hour program can open doors to positions in college or university administration, school superintendence, agency administration, site management, budgeting and other leadership positions.
Post-BA BS Certification, Elementary
This degree and certification allows you to teach K-5 all subjects, K-6 self-contained classrooms, K-8 reading, Language Arts, and Science. The ZS endorsement is highly sought after if you want to teach Pre-K through grade 3.
